Welcome back everyone! It’s time for another round-up. Not much happening this week, just work and reading. My son has a cold this weekend so I’m doing all I can to avoid him in the hopes that I won’t catch it. Let’s see how the numbers look today.
TBR – I finished 1 book and 1 short story, so the current TBR is 270. I didn’t add any books this week but, full disclosure, I did request 3 from a list sent to me by Pen & Sword Publishing. Since they haven’t actually arrived yet, they are not on the list.
NetGalley – The book I finished this week was a NetGalley title and that bumped my score up to 84%.
Goodreads challenge – As of today, I am on track.
Coming Up – I will shortly have up my review of the short story Rusted Halo by Jade Alyse.
In the next couple of days I will post my review of Lunatics, Imbeciles and Idiots by Kathryn Burtinshaw & Dr. John Burt.
I am currently reading Birdcage Walk by Helen Dunmore.
That’s it for now. Hope you all have a good week.
Here we are again, another Sunday, another Round-Up. A pretty ordinary week, we’re back in the groove of school and already looking forward to graduation in May. So let’s get on with the numbers.
TBR – I added 1 book and finished reading 2. Today’s total is 272.
NetGalley – Both books that I finished were from NetGalley and my score has climbed to 83%.
Goodreads challenge – I am currently on track, though I’d prefer to be ahead by 1 or 2.
Coming up – Right now I’m reading “Blackout” by Marc Elsberg.
I’ve got the short story “Rusted Halo” by Jade Alyse on the schedule for this week followSed by “Birdcage Walk” by Helen Dunmore.
So that’s it for this week. If you live in the U.S., I hope you have a great Labor Day tomorrow. I’ll check in again next Sunday.
Well, this week didn’t go as planned. The process of getting ready to go back to school just seemed to take over my week and I didn’t get nearly as much reading done as I had hoped, nor did I do as many narrations as I wanted to. So, I start work again tomorrow and it will probably take me a couple of weeks to figure out what I can realistically accomplish each week. I apologize if you all have been missing me this week. Let’s check my status.
TBR – I did not add any books this week. But in the interests of full disclosure, I have at least 3 requests in at NetGalley. I finished 2 books this week and the current total is 274.
NetGalley Score – Currently sitting at 82% but if those requests come thru, I’m doomed.
Goodreads – I am still on track but barely…
Coming Up – So this is what’s coming but I’m making no guarantees as to when at this point. Review of “The Fact of a Body” by Alexandria Marzano-Lesnevich, hopefully up tomorrow. I am currently reading “A Perfect Obsession” by Heather Graham. So that’s it for today guys. Assuming I survive my first week back I check back in with you next week.
Now that Psychology week is over (I really didn’t plan for this week’s book reviews to be psychology related, it just kind of happened that way) let’s see where we stand.
TBR – current number is 274 and I only added one book this week! (Pats myself on the back)
NetGalley score – Remains at 76% (gives myself a thumbs-up)
Goodreads challenge – 2 books behind schedule (kicks myself in the butt)
So, I’ve got about a month until school starts and I’m back to work, that means a lot of reading if I want to get caught up on my challenge.
On the home front I did make some good progress. I managed to get all the stuff that had been accumulating in my basement organized and stored away. So now you can actually walk from one end to the other without tripping over anything. (Another pat on the back)
Coming up – I’m planning to post 3 narrations this coming week. I’ve got my review of “The Lying Game” by Ruth Ware going up on Tuesday to coincide with the book’s release day. I’ve just started reading “The Marriage Pact” by Michelle Richmond. That review should go up on Friday. So that’s it for this week. I hope everybody enjoys their week!
Another Sunday has arrived and that means it’s time to check in with the TBR. So this week I finished one book and I DNFRd one book. I also acquired one book, which leaves the TBR at 276. My NetGalley score moved up a notch to 76%. I continue to be behind by 2 books on my Goodreads challenge. I was so hoping to get ahead over the summer, but I’ve been reading a lot of long books so I’m not moving through the list as quickly as I had hoped.
Coming Up – I am currently reading “In A Different Key” by John Donvan & Caren Zucker. This book traces the history of Autism in the U.S. If you’ve been following me for a while you know I like books about the brain and mental illness and this one I’m really enjoying because the way it’s written it almost reads like a novel.
And another psychology book coming up is “On Edge” by Andrea Peterson. This is the author’s story of her struggle with anxiety. I’ve also got 3 more narrations in the works for this week.
So that’s it for today. We are having a heat wave this week in North Dakota and I will be spending most of my time indoors and hopefully that will mean lots of reading time. Have a good week everybody!
Happy Reading and Listening!
Happy Sunday Everybody! This week has had some ups and downs for my in terms of books, so let’s see what’s been happening. The TBR started at 280 and ends the week at 276. I acquired one book this week and took 4 off of the list. Two of those 4 I finished reading and posted reviews. The other two I had to DNFR (did not finish reading). One was “Ill Will” because I didn’t like the characters or the story line. I also dropped “The Woman Who Knew Too Much” because I was getting bored with the story which seemed to be dragging. On a positive note, my Netgalley score rose to 76% this week! However, I am still behind on my Goodreads challenge.
Given that we have 4th of July coming in a couple of days and I’m going out of town, I’m not sure how much reading I will get done this week, but here’s what I’m working on. “Watch Me Disappear” by Janelle Brown Then “Two Nights” by Kathy Reichs (I’m really excited about this one). I’m also hoping to add a couple of narrations to the Journeys Through Bookland series. If you’re in the U.S. a hope you have a great 4th on Tuesday. Here in Fargo we are expecting a heat wave. Have a great week everyone!
It was a pretty quiet week for me, except for the thunderstorm part. So let’s see if I accomplished anything. TBR – started at 280, I added 1 and finished 2, so it now stands at 279. NetGalley score – a boost here, those 2 books I finished bumped me from 71% to 73%. Goodreads challenge – as of right now I am 3 books behind on my challenge. So, a mixed bag of results for the week.
Now let’s look at what’s ahead for the coming week. I will have my review of “The Sound of Glass” going up tomorrow.
After that will be “Ill Will”
I will also try to post a couple more Journeys Through Bookland stories. If you haven’t noticed, I have created a separate page for the audio narrations so you can find them all in one spot. That’s all I’ve got right now. Hope you have a great week.
I hope you all are having a great weekend. Rainy here yesterday but the sun is shining this morning. Let’s see how the TBR has changed over the last 7 days. The week started at 282 and I did not acquire any new books this week. I managed to finish 2 books this weeks which means the TBR has dropped to 280! One of the books I finished was a NetGalley pick which bumped my score up to 71%. In spite of this I am still 2 books behind on my Goodreads challenge.
So what’s coming up this week. I’ve got a review of “Every Dead Thing” by John Connolly going up tomorrow. I’m currently reading “The Devil’s Triangle” by Catherine Coulter and J.T. Ellison.
Have a great week everybody!
Welcome to another episode of “I Have No Self-Control When It Comes To Books”. Case in point: this morning I received an email from Audible that they are running a giveaway and the winner will get everything on their wish list up to $300. So what did I do? I spent half an hour filling up my wish list, just in case I’m the winner. I have no idea how many books I added (I don’t really want to know, if I’m being honest) and if I do win my TBR will probably crack under the pressure, but you only live once!
Ok, so it looks like I added 2 books to the TBR this week and I finished 2, so that makes the total 282. I was able to make up some time on my Goodreads challenge where I am currently 2 books behind instead of 4. My NetGalley score went up to 70% since both books that I finished were from them. In addition to all that reading I posted 3 new narrations to the blog. So all in all, a pretty busy week book-wise.
Tomorrow I will post my review of “Mercies in Disguise“.
On Wednesday, I will be posting my review of “The Lost Sentinel” by Suzanne Rogerson as part of her blog tour. The book is available for pre-order now and will be released on the 16th. If you enjoy fantasy, you really need to discover Suzanne’s books.
Hopefully, I will also get a couple more Journeys Through Bookland narrations posted this week. I hope you all have a great week and don’t forget to tell your friends about me.
It has finally gotten hot in North Dakota this week. It was kind of a busy week. My son turned 17 on Wednesday, and on Friday we went on a college tour. I came back impressed by the school and with a blister on my toe as a souvenir. So let’s get into what’s been happening in my little library this week.
I finished reading 2 books and I acquired 3, which brings the total TBR to 283. Ok, but in my defense I came across a bargain book bin while out shopping and those books just looked so sad that I had to give a couple of them a good home. I was performing a public service. My NetGalley score briefly saw 70% and then dipped back to 69% after I was approved for one of their books. It’s Kathy Reichs new book, and she’s one of my favorite authors, and the universe would have been very unhappy with me if I didn’t request it. Ooh, I am full of excuses today!
I do want to say thank you to my followers. I’ve had a little flurry of activity the last couple of weeks and my count is up to 149. If you’re not following me yet, I hope you will so I can pass the 150 mark.
Finally, I posted a couple of new narrations this past week. I hope you guys are enjoying them because I’m having a lot of fun making them.
Monday you will see my review of “Elementary, She Read“.
Tuesday and Thursday I will have new Journeys Through Bookland narrations. And Friday will be my review of “Cruel Winter”.
I hope you all have a good week and discover lots of good books.
