I hope you all are having a great weekend. Rainy here yesterday but the sun is shining this morning. Let’s see how the TBR has changed over the last 7 days. The week started at 282 and I did not acquire any new books this week. I managed to finish 2 books this weeks which means the TBR has dropped to 280! One of the books I finished was a NetGalley pick which bumped my score up to 71%. In spite of this I am still 2 books behind on my Goodreads challenge.
So what’s coming up this week. I’ve got a review of “Every Dead Thing” by John Connolly going up tomorrow. I’m currently reading “The Devil’s Triangle” by Catherine Coulter and J.T. Ellison.
Have a great week everybody!
Welcome to another episode of “I Have No Self-Control When It Comes To Books”. Case in point: this morning I received an email from Audible that they are running a giveaway and the winner will get everything on their wish list up to $300. So what did I do? I spent half an hour filling up my wish list, just in case I’m the winner. I have no idea how many books I added (I don’t really want to know, if I’m being honest) and if I do win my TBR will probably crack under the pressure, but you only live once!
Ok, so it looks like I added 2 books to the TBR this week and I finished 2, so that makes the total 282. I was able to make up some time on my Goodreads challenge where I am currently 2 books behind instead of 4. My NetGalley score went up to 70% since both books that I finished were from them. In addition to all that reading I posted 3 new narrations to the blog. So all in all, a pretty busy week book-wise.
Tomorrow I will post my review of “Mercies in Disguise“.
On Wednesday, I will be posting my review of “The Lost Sentinel” by Suzanne Rogerson as part of her blog tour. The book is available for pre-order now and will be released on the 16th. If you enjoy fantasy, you really need to discover Suzanne’s books.
Hopefully, I will also get a couple more Journeys Through Bookland narrations posted this week. I hope you all have a great week and don’t forget to tell your friends about me.
This has been a spectacular week, guys! My last day of work was on Thursday and I am now officially on summer vacation, which basically means I’m going to spend the next 3 months reading books, listening to books, thinking about the stories in books…..
So, down to business. The TBR now has a total of 282, the same as last week. I added 2 books and finished 2 books. One of the books I finished was a NetGalley book, but I also added a NetGalley book so my score there is 69%. And I’m still 4 books behind on my Goodreads challenge.
I’ve decided to put myself on a schedule for the summer so we’ll see how that works out. My plan is to post book reviews on Monday and Friday and release audio narrations on Wednesdays. I will also continue the weekly round-ups on Sunday. This week there will be a bonus review to coincide with the release of “Where Dead Men Meet” by Mark Mills.
Here’s what you can expect to see:
Monday – “Where Dead Men Meet” by Mark Mills – book review
Tuesday – “The Brethren” by John Grisham – book review
Wednesday – Journeys Through Bookland: “Hansel & Grethel” – audio narration
Friday – “Saving Abby” by Steena Holmes – book review
I hope you are enjoying your Memorial Day weekend! Happy Reading!
Today’s round-up will be short and to the point because that’s just the kind of mood I’m in today.
TBR: 3 books added, 2 books finished, total 282.
Goodreads Challenge: 4 books behind schedule (hanging my head in shame).
NetGalley Score: Dropped to 69%.
Coming Soon: Review of audiobook “Norse Mythology” by Neil Gaiman.
Currently Reading: “The Lost Sentinel” by Suzanne Rogerson. This is her latest book and will be released on June 16th. My review will go up on the 14th. If you want to pre-order, it is currently only $0.99 on Amazon. Click the title above to go there.
Hope to finish reading this week – “The Road to Jonestown” by Jeff Guinn.
Now I need to go get caught up on paperwork, Ugh. I hope you all have a wonderful week and I will see you here again soon!
Time to take a hard look at just how much I didn’t do this week! First of all, I did not make progress on my Goodreads challenge, and in fact I fell further behind. I am now 3 books behind on my challenge (heavy sigh). On the plus side, I only have 10 working days left in this school year, so I’m hoping to get caught up in June.
NetGalley: I finished one book and my rating is now at 71%. I am currently reading 2 more books from here and am looking forward to finishing them this week (wishful thinking).
TBR: As previously mentioned, I only finished one book this week. But because I’m so good at it, I added 2 more books. So the new (and ever increasing) total is 280.
So what am I currently working on? First, I’m nearly finished with “Deadly Alibi” by Leigh Russell This is a NetGalley selection. Also from NetGalley, I am reading “The Road to Jonestown” by Jeff Guinn.
In other new, I’ve recorded another episode of Journeys Through Bookland and I’m hoping to post that today or tomorrow so keep your eyes and ears open for that. That’s it for this episode. I’m expecting this week to be a lot less busy than last week, so maybe there’s some hope for me.
Have a good week and Happy Reading!
Time again for our weekly gathering! I hope you are all enjoying spring. We finally have some warm weather here in North Dakota and things are turning green. I have 15 more days of work before summer break, since I work at a school I get the whole summer off and every year I can’t wait. Honestly, I think I’m worse than the kids!
There are some changes on my website. You may have noticed that the address has changed to alinefromabook.com, no more typing in the wordpress part of the extension. I’m planning o make some changes to the look also over the next few weeks so keep your eyes open for that. Also, I have decided to start recording the stories in Journeys Through Bookland and you can look forward to more of those coming your way. The first one is The Three Little Pigs and you can find it here.
Let’s talk TBR now, because I know that’s why you are reading this. I only added one book this week! I dropped one because it just wasn’t interesting to me, and I finished reading 2 books. That brings the total to 279. I didn’t read any NetGalley books this week and my rating remains at 70%.
So what’s in the works for the next week or so. I am currently reading “The Principal’s Daughter” by Russ Katz.
I’m also reading “The Brethren” by John Grisham.
The next installment of Journeys Through Bookland will be “Jack and the Beanstalk”.
I hope that your May is off to a wonderful start and I’ll see you next week for another update.
Tomorrow is May 1st and the weather forecast for Fargo, ND includes the possibility of snow. Gotta love North Dakota. Let’s close out the month of April by taking a look at my TBR and see what, if any, progress I have made in the past week.
I finished reading 1 book. Ooh, three cheers for me! I also added some books. And by some, I mean 8!
These are the ones I received in the mail. I also received 2 Kindle books from NetGalley. All this means that the TBR has reached a new high, ending at 281. My NetGalley rating has dropped to 70% and I’m 2 books behind on my Goodreads challenge.
I am currently reading “Dead Watch” by John Sandford.
I’m also listening to the audiobook of “The Cleaner” by Mark Dawson.
Thank you for joining me in this little glimpse of my lack of self-control when it comes to books. I hope you all have a good week!
Welcome to the end of another week. I will forewarn you, I have had no self-control this week. So, let’s tally up the damages.
If you pay attention to such things, you will have noticed that I posted nothing this week. That’s because I didn’t finish ANYTHING this week. I believe this is a first since I started this blog. I have no explanation for this phenomenon. For the coming week, I do have 2 days off work, so maybe I will do some catching up before the next round-up. I added 2 books to the TBR this week, both audiobooks which I don’t usually do, so I’ll see how that goes. I also received a flyer from Pen & Sword this week of available to request books and I asked for all of them. That’s 5 books that are winging their way to me. It is my rule not to add books to the official TBR until I actually possess them which means there will be a spike coming in a couple of weeks. The official ending tally is 275 books.
Score remains at 71% because I haven’t finished any books this week.
I am a little more than halfway through “The Fifth Petal” by Brunonia Barry and I am loving it! If I don’t get my review up this week someone may have to conduct an intervention to get me reading again.
After this is a short story called “Death of a Pawn” by David Bruns and then I think I’m going to go for a cozy mystery, for a little bit of a change, called “Pesky Politicians in Las Vegas” by A.R. Winters. Both of these were sent to me by the authors. I’ve read other books in A.R. Winters Tiffany Black series and enjoyed them so I expecting this to be a fun, shorter read. David Bruns is a new author for me and we’ll see how it goes. That’s all I have for today, guys.
Look at me! It’s not even lunchtime yet and I’m writing my weekly round-up. The reason for this is my husband and I are going out this afternoon, so I figured I’d better get this done now while it’s quiet in my house. Let’s go ahead and get into this.
Current number is 273, up from 271 last week. Let me explain… I finished one book, a really great psychological thriller titled “Lies” by TM Logan which publishes on May 4, 2017. My review will go up closer to the pub date.
I also acquired some books this week. Author A.R. Winters sent me a review copy of her new book “Furniture Fatality in Las Vegas”. I requested and received two books from NetGalley, “The Silent Corner” by Dean Koontz and “The Marriage Pact” by Michelle Richmond. Finally, Penguin Random House sent me “Watch Me Disappear” by Janelle Brown.
I finished one NetGalley book and acquired a couple more but my rating remains at 71%. I think because I’m slowly reducing the “over 3 months old” section of my reading list with them and I think that’s helping keep my number up.
I have just started “The Fifth Petal” which I am so excited to be reading. It’s a big one but I’m hoping to finish it before next weekend. After that I haven’t decided yet.
So that’s it for now. I hope you all have a wonderful week. We are finally getting spring temperatures where I am so I’m looking forward to leaving my jacket in the closet for a change.
Greetings everyone! First, I must apologize profusely for not getting this post up yesterday. Somehow the whole day just got away from me. Secondly, I just realized that a posted nothing all last week. I think that’s the first time since I started this blog.
TBR – Still at 271. I finished a book and picked up a new book, so no change here.
NetGalley – That book I picked up was, of course, from NetGalley, so my score went back down to 71%.
Coming Up – The book I finished is “Where Dead Men Meet” by Mark Mills. This book releases on May 30, 2017 and I will be posting my review on that date to coincide with the release. I will tell that I enjoyed the book and if you want to check it out just click on the title above to go to the Amazon page. Currently I am reading “Lies” by TM Logan, which is a psychological thriller. After that is “The Fifth Petal” by Brunonia Barry. I’m very excited about this mystery. The description sounds so intriguing that I actually had requested it from 2 different websites without realizing it so I now have an electronic copy and a hardcover copy. I can’t wait!
I hope you all have a great week and I’ll try to get back on schedule.
