Book Review: “The Last One” by Alexandra Oliva

Book Review: “The Last One” by Alexandra Oliva

This debut novel is set to be released in July and you have to get your hands on a copy! 12 people have agreed to participate in a survival-type reality TV show. The contestants are given a pass-phrase they can use if/when they want out. Each has also been given a nickname. Zoo works with animals, hence the nickname, and sees this as a last adventure before she and her husband have kids, and she is determined to see it through.

One reason I really enjoyed this book is because the story felt new and original. I liked how the author incorporated the view point of the show’s producer and the social media comments from viewers in relating the action. Also, I really liked the character Zoo. She is so resilient and yet caring at the same time. I always enjoy a female character who can be tough or soft depending on what the situation requires. This book is full of drama, both real and imaginary, and thrills and should appeal to a wide audience of readers.

Alinefromabook’s rating: TWO THUMBS-UP!

Happy Reading!
