Thank you to NetGalley and Harlequin for providing the ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Relationships are complicated on the best of days. Quinn is not having the best of days, and her relationships have just gotten very complicated. Everything she thought was true about her roommate is suddenly called into question when she disappears into the night without warning. Alex’s life is stuck in a rut until he goes to work and Pearl walks into his life. He is instantly captivated by the beautiful girl and takes to following her around town. But Pearl is full of secrets and they’re dangerous secrets.

This story alternates between Quinn’s story and Alex’s. Quinn is desperate to know what has happened to Esther and will stop at nothing to find out. Alex irresistibly draw to Pearl but worries she will be gone as mysteriously as she appeared. And what does all this have to do with a 5-year old who died before Alex was even born? You can sense there is some kind of a connection between Alex and Quinn’s stories but you will have to read to the very end before the answers become clear. This mystery/thriller will keep you guessing and wondering from beginning to end.

Alinefromabook’s recommendation: THUMBS-UP for great characterization, lots of twists and secrets to keep the reader guessing, and an approachable writing style. The author gives you what you need to enjoy the story without weighing you down.

Age recommendation: The main characters are in their 20’s so this story may be appealing to teenagers but also good for mystery lovers of all ages.

Happy Reading!
